Welcome to the year of Des-Des-Moines-A and the 10th Anniversary of the Des Moines PHC! We’ve got a great mix of new socials and some old favorites planned for the year and all the fabulous details are listed below!
The Tiki Bar is Open
In 2010 we’re moving to a new home at the brand new Ramada Inn & Suites at 5500 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. This new location has a kickin’ Tiki Bar which will be our home for socials and most board/business meetings unless we otherwise note it on our club calendar. It’s out by the pool, they play Buffett, have phun drink specials and there’s even a super large Captain Morgan on top of the hut. It’s our kind of place! Not only that, but we’re moving our socials to the 3rd Thursday of each month and will move back to a happy hour type of format. All socials will start around 5:00-5:30, with the meeting starting around 6:15.
With this move, we do need to thank Dustin and Twisted Parrot for all of their past support and phun times we’ve had there. Dustin has provided with us some invaluable support over the years and we can’t thank him enough. This won’t be the last time we visit Dustin and his gang and I know that many of you will continue to support this business and all the good times to be had at the Parrot.
Phun for Only $1 a Month?!?
In the next week, you will be receiving an electronic invoice from our treasurer for your 2010 dues. Like a used car salesman, we’re slashing prices!! For only $1 a month, you can be a member of one of the phunnest groups in the metro area. All dues will be $12 per year, per person, and will be payable one of several ways…..through PayPal at our website www.DesMoinesParrotheads.com, at a social meeting, or by mailing a payment to our P.O. box. Your membership dues will include a yearly customized lanyard, a quarterly newsletter and several other surprises we have in store for the year.
And Yet there is More….
Since this is our 10th Anniversary, we’ve worked hard at planning some really unique things that you won’t want to miss…. Including a dive bar pub crawl, a special drink designed just for the 10th Anniversary of the DMPHC, a club appreciation party, a Retro 10th Anniversary party, and most of all, the best way to make and meet phriends who are here to party with a purpose and enjoy Jimmy Buffett. We’re expanding our horizons to include the Ames gang and having socials up there every other month, are in the initial planning stage of our annual phlocking Livingston Saturday Night and have combined our infamous Patio Tour with our board meetings this year.

Of course, our club calendar and weekly Tuesday emails are always the best place to get the latest news, but here is a good start to get these dates on your calendar. Next week we’ll have a great list of upcoming road trips that are happening around the Midwest and more details on next week’s social party! Can’t wait to see you all on January 21st at the Tiki Bar!!!!
